Laser triangulation ensures precision in manufacturing

Robots, automated manufacturing lines, and quality control systems in the automotive industry require precise information about the position and orientation of components. High-precision embedded imaging systems use laser triangulation to capture three-dimensional data of objects and detect irregularities and surface defects on the order of a few micrometers.
Photonfocus develops embedded vision systems specifically for such applications, which—for maximum efficiency —can simultaneously measure shape and surface texture, for example. To do this, data from 2D, 3D, and HDR sensors is analyzed in combination.

By limiting the sensor area used to so-called regions of interest, speed can be further increased.
For compact, standalone solutions or seamless integration into robots and automotive manufacturing systems, intelligent Photonfocus vision systems are used; these systems can interpret image data directly on board, thereby ensuring even greater productivity.
